The Four Elements and the Seven Powers of Mary Magdalene
(Thoughts and Reflections after Table last night)
Wild Elemental One
Creator of the Cosmos
Designer of the Galaxies
Composer of the Elements
Engineer of the Power within
Pulling and placing.
Hovering and forming.
Appointing and calling.
Establishing and guarding.
The four elements are in our roots, the sacral, the solar and the heart of our very being… our throat, our third eye, our crown…
Fire, earth, water and wind are the foundation of how you create, design, compose, and engineer the energy and movement within our bodies.
This created order and sustenance in life giving flow is the entire groundedness of our being.
This is the natural and deliberate intention of the Wild Elemental One.
Shaping earth to ground us.
Adding water to transform us.
Breathing wind to release and move us.
Setting fire to excite the passion within us.
These elements flow and expand in the body. Creating pathways for how we see ourselves and others. Some people are more inclined to the work of grounding while others are more naturally shaped for the work of transformation or release/movement. Sometimes we are motivated by two of the four elements. This can leave two of the elements with less attention. Perhaps this is where our spiritual paths become blocked. Where we find energy leaks. Where our challenges are simply our strengths overdone.1
While the elements are part of our natural world, these words of fire, earth, water, and wind show up in the spiritual story found in the beginning when the Wild Elemental One ordered the expansion and movement of these words. Words that formed the cosmos, galaxies, elements, and power by placing them in our outer world and our inner being.
Why create an elemental world without creating elemental beings…?
I love the passage in Psalms 139 “While you were in your mother‘s womb, I saw you.“
Again… the blessing, the womb, the darkness, the water, the light all converge to create. To deliver new life. Bringing new humans into an elemental world where their very own nature, tendencies and personalities are woven into their fabric of being. Into the ray of creation.
Fast-forward to Jesus and Mary Magdalene…
The elements are easy to see in Jesus’ words…
I am life
I am living water
I am peace
I am Light
I am that I am.
The four elements flow through him. The energy of his entire being flows outward to others as he passes people. As he touches to heal. As he breathes life into sleeping bodies. As he reminds them, ‘You are salt and light of the Earth.’
Then he meets Mary Magdalene…
She has the elements within her also.
He recognizes instantly that she is expressing her elemental design in the way she gathers herbs and flowers or seeds to connect with earths bounty. The way she prepares oil and stores it in clay jars or alabaster boxes to use at just the right time to anoint, bring life or create movement for the body and soul to align. He notices some extra things about her… something beyond her elements that allows her to not only expand and enhance the four elements, but also makes those around her question her use of these elements. It makes them uncomfortable. They question her stability as a woman and her presence. In the Gospel of Thomas Peter demands, “Let Mary leave us, for her teachings contain strange ideas.”2
He noticed how men labeled her demonic. Having seven spirits that possessed her. The stories of her have been told in such a way over the millennia that many people still believe the false story about her demons. Many still see her as prostitute, harlot, or hussy. The latest word I heard used last week in a conversation about Mary Magdalene. (The Catholic Church rewrote the liturgy in 1969 to reflect her rightful titles in the Second Testament)
Here is where my holy imagination keeps expanding. Jesus doesn’t cast her out, cast her away, or ignore her presence. Instead, he invites her to join him. To expand him. To teach him these additional elements that Mary demonstrated when he met her… These three additional elements or energy fields gave her a total of seven. {4 + 3 = 7}
Expression and truth (Creativity)
Inclusion and wisdom (Intuition)
Spiritual awareness (Pure Light)
He heard her speak her truth and he connected with her message about him, “The Good is within.“3
He witnessed her intuition and wisdom. She demonstrated an inner knowing about her body and soul. He recognized her practices of self emptying and releasing ego. A third eye practice that engages ‘the eye of the heart’ of intuitive light.
He was drawn to the pure light within Mary Magdalene. Not just the element of fire that brimmed over as they walked the roads of life together, but the pure light… a reflection of the Mother of Light… Sophia Wisdom. The one who helped order the elements in the beginning with the Wild Elemental One… “Let light be and Light was.”4
I am not an Energy practitioner or Energy Healer.
I am not a Reiki practitioner.
I am not a Chakra practitioner or Healer.
I am not a Crystalline practitioner or Healer.
I am not a Ayurvedic practitioner.
I am not a Sound Healer.
I am not the first to compare and contrast the elements or energy centers with the seven powers of Mary Magdalene. In a Google search you will quickly find many who have done so.
What I am is an Elemental Coach.
I have offered the Four Elements over the past twenty years as a path to understanding self and others. The teaching, coaching, and training resources of leadership and team communication at Laurie Beth Jones Inc.
What I am is a lover and student and follower of Mary Magdalene. I am fascinated by her seven powers and how she expanded her soul leaning into ascent while demonstrating to us that “further up is further in.“ That her path with Jesus, the Magdalene Way, was expressed through her seven powers of release, movement, flow, and wisdom.
What I am interested in is how the elements and the energy in our bodies can open or block our spiritual connection. How the four Elements within each of us are nurtured and expressed in our words. What we say about ourselves and our own ‘I am statements’ becomes a pathway to expansion or a descent into areas that block the flow of Spirit, Light and Truth.
What I am interested in is how the seven powers and the four elements help us see and seek the ancient path of remembering that Mary and Jesus followed as they traveled, witnessed, and shared their truth with all who had ears to hear. I am interested in the souls expansion. I believe the four elements and the seven powers within Mary are a convergence of energy towards transformation, more love, and more light along this path we journey together.
I’m interested in celebrating Mary and honoring her this month. Every year in July the Feast of Mary Magdalene is honored and celebrated in the Catholic Church. Since 1969 the Church has restored her identity back to what it was in the Second Testament… She is, the first witness to the Resurrection.. the Apostle to the Apostles.
Her energy.
Her elements.
Her desire to seek the Good.
Her transformation of body and soul through transcendent acts of release offers a path of grace for all. Teaching us that we too can move blocked energy of our past or the current holds that limit our movements by simply learning to align to our highest frequency.
In Mary’s world and words… that is the frequency of love. Love poured out. Again, and again. First to ourselves, then to those who have ears to hear.
Take the Path Elements Assessment
If you do not know, or perhaps are not familiar with the four elements of fire earth, water, and wind that reside in you, I invite you to get to know this side of yourself. This fabric that was weaved in the beginning by the Wild Elemental One. Lean into this frequency that is part of your design. Your inner sanctuary of truth.
During the month of July, I am offering this as a gift to anyone who wants to understand the four elements within you. Reply to this email or send me a DM in the chat and I will send you a link to take the Path Elements. If you’re curious about the assessment, you can view a short video here. Perhaps you can invite Mary along as a guide while you take it and review the report that comes with the gift. May she offer her gifts to you as you explore your elements. This is a gift to honor Mary Magdalene and to expand more love and energy and light in the world.
At table on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 5 PM. We will Honor the feast of Mary Magdalene. All are invited and welcome to attend. I will offer more details for joining the feast celebration as we get closer to the date.
